Hooray! I finally have something to show you for FO Friday. I actually have THREE finished things to show you.

FO #1

Plain Jane socks (aka the basic Knitted Socks for the Family pattern)

These were started 10/1/2017. Over three years ago!

I knit these with Periwinkle Sheep Watercolors yarn (click there to see her Etsy shop or stop in at The Spinning Room where they always have a wonderful supply) in the Rosy Maple Moth colorway. This is not my usual color choice but the colors looked so inviting in the skein and I love the finished striping effect.

But… do you notice something?

The toes are different! I had finished the first sock a loooooong time ago. Before my recently-discovered love of the star toe. So I did the star toe on the second sock. Who’s going to know? (Besides me and anyone who reads this blog?)

Together Apart shawl by Melanie Berg

I started this on August 2, 2020. So it only took me three months to finish, not three years like those socks. Not bad.

I had trouble getting into the lace parts of this shawl for some reason. Usually I can start recognizing the pattern and memorize some of it, but not this one. It was hard. In fact, I decided to end the shawl 20 rows early because of it. That lace section at the bottom would have been longer.

It’s ok though. I think it still looks great and no one would know that stopped early right? (Besides me and everyone who reads this blog.)

But remember back when I showed you this as a WIP and I said the lace part would look soooooo much better once it was blocked? It looked like this before blocking:

Pretty cool, right?

FO #3

My second Beloved hat by Tin Can Knits.

Started this one two days ago and finished it today. My first one, I knit all in one day, in a four-hour stretch!

Why did I make a second one? Well, the first one I donated to The Spinning Room yarn shop as they are giving them to charity for the winter season. So I needed a second one to have as a sample for the ZOOM class where I will teach, on the line, how to knit it! (“On the line” is a reference to a hilarious movie with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, called The Internship)

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! It’s so exciting to be teaching knitting classes again! But, AAAAAAAHHHHHH! It’s so scary to be teaching knitting classes online!

I haven’t done it yet, so this class will be my first one. But you can bet I will be practicing my camera skills a whole lot before then! I’m actually very familiar with teaching online because that is basically my job, but I haven’t had to use video and a second camera for demonstrations. Small learning curve there!

If you are interested in taking this class you can find all the info here on the classes page of The Spinning Room website. It will take lace on November 15, 12:00-2:30pm. I have knit the baby size, but it has sizes up to an adult and is very cozy since it covers your ears nicely. Lots of knitting techniques to learn, too! Class is limited to 4 spots to begin with to ease me into it. If all goes well, (which I expect it to!) I’ll be scheduling more classes.

So, THREE finished objects off my list, two of which were on it before I started keeping track of finishing!
